Basaveshwar Engineering College (BEC) is a premier Technical Institute recognised at National level catering to the needs of rural masses in Northern part of Karnataka. Ever since its inception in 1963 with only three disciplines, now in 2021 BEC has 9 UG & 8 PG programmes and is recognised at National level by securing NIRF ranking persistently for the past 3 years. I have been very closely associated with BEC from the day I took charge as the Chairman of B. V. V. Sangha in 1991 and in my opinion; the faculty have persistently worked hard to envisage the vision of Basaveshwar Veershaiva Vidya Vardhak Sangha (BVVS) by starting new courses in several disciplines and stood the testimony of time by accomplishing many feats. My future endeavour will be to involve all worthy staff in the ventures of BEC with a view to enhance the quality of technical education and make its presence profoundly felt not only within India but also at International level.

At BEC, we create opportunities to all stakeholders not only to learn, but also for them to experience the fulfilment that comes from sharing their learning skills with others. We at BVVS strongly believe in the philosophy of Lord Basaveshwar of 12th century, Work is Worship” and also inculcate a concrete value system amongst the faculty and students.

The B. V. V. Sangha has an everlasting commitment for developing professionals with humane and pragmatic approach to bring about change in the society. I express my sincere thanks to all for the members and confidence showered on me to lead 150+ institutions ranging from kindergarten to research with profound humility. I seek absolute support and commitment from within and outside to steer BVVS to new panorama and array of success.

Education plays a vital role in the overall development of the Society and Nation building. The role of education is not just limited to transferring theoretical knowledge to students. The true goal of education is to surpass beyond awarding degree or a certificate to the students. By Education, Mahatma Gandhi meant an overall development of an individual i.e. man-body, mind and spirit". The ultimate goal of education is to discover the meaning of life and its fulfilment for the benefit of mankind as well as for oneself. The pursuit of education is to acquire knowledge to serve humanity with modest culture and wisdom but it is to be noted that, knowledge is not given but earned and character is not granted but cultivated.

Basaveshwar Engineering College (BEC) not only focuses on the theoretical curriculum, but also assists in imparting practical knowledge leading to the overall development of a student personality from all perspectives. In my opinion, what makes a good institution is - a highly knowledgeable & trained faculty, affluent library, opt teaching methods, autonomy to think and express oneself – which is part of a culture at BEC.

The credentials earned and the accomplishments of BEC are i) Secured NIRF ranking within 200, ii) 100% accreditation of all UG courses by NBA, iii) Accreditation by NAAC of UGC, iv) Accredited by QS I-Gauge, UK, v) Awarded E-lead (E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitization) certification by QS I-Gauge, vi) Received a grant of Rs. 40.00 crores in all three phases of TEQIP - A World Bank assisted project on merit and was recognised as one of the Best Performing colleges in phase II and III, vii) Selected by AICTE, New Delhi to setup IDEA lab worth Rs. 1.10 crores, viii) Recognised as Incubation Centre by IT-BT, GoK, ix) Placed in Gold Category by AICTE - CII Survey of Industry Linked Tech. Institutes, x) Started new BE course in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and M.Tech course in Defence Technology in association with DRDO, xi) ILL 1:1 – 1000 Mbps band width with wifi campus, xii) Smart Classrooms for Interactive Teaching & Learning and many more.

I firmly believe that, our College is more than a place to learn because it has learned faculty with skilled supporting staff and all the state-of-art infrastructure facilities. We provide an opportunity to grow by equipping oneself with everything required to achieve excellence. At BEC, we ensure students get the best start to their future career to become smart and stately citizen of our glorious country, India.
