Overview
The Department of Electronics and Communication (E&C) Engineering was established in 1985. It offers an undergraduate programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering along with Ph.D. programmes in cutting-edge areas such as VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Networking, MEMS and Speech Signal Processing. Recognised as a Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) centre by the Government of India, the department has a strong legacy in research and development — particularly in communications, signal processing, microelectronics and RF/photonics. It hosts well-equipped laboratories spanning digital electronics, advanced digital communication, microwave communication, microprocessors and microcontrollers, and computer networks, along with an exclusive computing facility running industry-standard tools such as CADENCE VLSI, ECAD and Verilog simulation/synthesis packages. The department regularly organises seminars, workshops and training programmes under initiatives like TEQIP, ACME and AICTE, and has executed several AICTE-sponsored projects to strengthen its laboratory and research capabilities.
