Technical WingInnovation Club

BEC Avishkaar is the official Innovation Club of Basaveshwar Engineering College — a platform that fosters creativity, entrepreneurship, and real-world problem-solving among students. The club operates under BEC's IIC (Institution's Innovation Council) framework, encouraging students to ideate, prototype, and pitch solutions that matter.

Mission Core

  • To encourage creative thinking, problem-solving, and a solutions-first mindset among all students.
  • To support students in developing innovative projects, prototypes, and startup ideas.
  • To promote entrepreneurship awareness through workshops, EDP sessions, and startup interactions.
  • To collaborate with industries, BEC STEP, research institutions, and IIC-affiliated programs.
  • To organize ideathons, hackathons, innovation quizzes, and idea competitions throughout the year.

  • Promote an innovation and research culture across all departments at BEC.
  • Organize ideathons, hackathons, and innovation competitions every semester.
  • Provide guidance on patents, startup registration, and incubation through BEC STEP.
  • Conduct workshops, EDP sessions, and training programs on innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration among students from different branches.
  • Recognize outstanding innovators through Annual Innovation Awards.

Expected Outcomes

  • A fully functional Innovation Club with structured teams and clear processes.
  • Successful organization of at least one Ideathon, one Hackathon, and one Idea Competition.
  • Top student ideas shortlisted for incubation or further development through BEC STEP.
  • Active participation in IIC 8.0 quarterly activities.
  • Annual Innovation Awards recognizing outstanding student innovators.
  • Foundation laid for patents, startup registrations, and prototype development in subsequent semesters.

Roadmap
Month 1
Orientation & Ideation — Building the Foundation
Onboarding members, holding ideation workshops, and visiting STEP.
Planned Activities
  • Formation of Student Committee — Lead, Co-Lead, Treasurer, and functional teams.
  • Club Constitution and Guidelines session — objectives, code of conduct, and membership rules.
  • Orientation Session — Introduction to innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
  • Member registration drive — open to all students across branches and years.
  • Session on Ideation — how to identify problems and generate viable solutions.
  • Ideation Workshop — hands-on brainstorming, mind-mapping, and SCAMPER exercises.
  • Visit to BEC STEP — exposure to incubated startups and real innovation ecosystems.
Expected Outcome:Club fully formed, members onboarded, and every student leaves with at least one documented idea.
Month 2
Development & Community — From Ideas to Action
Mentoring, startup panels, community visits, and prototyping setups.
Planned Activities
  • Panel Discussion with BEC Startups — students interact with founders and learn from real journeys.
  • Participation in all IIC 8.0 activities (1st and 2nd Quarter events).
  • Community Visit — students identify real-world problems from the community to solve.
  • Idea Competition — teams present their concepts to a faculty and peer panel.
  • Workshop on EDP (Entrepreneurship Development Programme) — business thinking and startup basics.
Expected Outcome:Students gain external exposure, sharpen their ideas through competition, and begin understanding the startup ecosystem.
Month 3
Hackathon, Refinement & Showcase
Hackathons, formal pitching, and launching the Innovation Awards.
Planned Activities
  • Idea Hackathon — intensive build session where teams develop prototypes or MVPs.
  • Innovation Quiz — testing knowledge of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship.
  • Idea Selection — faculty and IIC panel shortlist the most promising concepts.
  • Participation in all IIC 8.0 activities (3rd and 4th Quarter events).
  • Final Pitching of the Idea — selected teams pitch to principal, faculty, and external jury.
  • Annual Innovation Awards — recognizing the best innovators, prototypes, and ideas of the year.
Expected Outcome:Top ideas pitched formally to an institutional panel; outstanding innovations recognized and recommended for incubation or further development.
