According to a
NASSCOM-McKinsey report the annual revenue projection for
Indian IT Industry in 2008 is US $87 billion and market
openings are emerging across four broad sectors - IT
services, software products, IT enabled services and
e-business thus creating a number of opportunities for
Indian companies. In addition to the export market all of
these segments have a domestic market component as well.
The worldwide market opportunity for Service-oriented
architecture (SOA) is expected to touch USD 143 billion
and companies can save up to USD 53 billion in IT spending
over the next five years by implementing SOA. A key
finding from the research is that within the Asian region,
there is an overall lack of awareness of SOA, which is the
key factor holding back wider adoption. Interviews with IT
vendors show that the longer-term potential will be
greatest in China, India, and Japan. The SOA market in
India is expected to grow at a Compounded Annual Growth
Rate (CAGR) of 49 percent from 2006-2009, making it the
fastest growing market in the region. Approximately
2,000 companies implementing SOA will accrue savings of
over USD 53 billion by 2010.
