About Civil Engineering Department:
Courses Offered:
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil,
Master of Technology in Environmental, Geo-technical
and Structural Engineering, Master of Science in
Engineering (Research), Doctor of Philosophy.
Specialised Areas:
Structures, Environmental,
Transportation, Water Resources and Geo-technical
Engineering.
The department is in existence since
the inception of the college, 1963 with an objective
to develop students to face new challenges posed in
the profession. The department is accredited by
National Board of Accreditation.
The faculty members have received
higher qualifications and training from reputed
institutions like IIT, IISc and NIT. The teaching
faculty is well assisted by the supporting staff. The
department has seven laboratories viz. Material
Testing, Environmental, Geotechnical, Fluid Mechanics,
Surveying, Transportation and Geology with
sophisticated state-of-the-art equipment modernized
under TEQIP funded by World Bank. An independent
Computer Centre is also set up with high end machines
and independent server supporting all major software
packages viz. Autodesk 2007, GIS, STAAD PRO 2006, NISA
Civil, SAP, ETABS, and STRAP. The department has an
independent library and seminar hall with latest
multimedia teaching aids.
The department has set up a consultancy
cell to disseminate the knowledge and expertise of
staff to offer services to government and
non-government organizations in this region. In
synchronization with STEP (Science and Technology
Entrepreneurship Park) of our College and Nirmiti
Kendra the cell assists in developing Cost Effective
Housing products. The department organizes seminars/
workshops and also training programme to PWD/ZP/Land
Army/Irrigation engineers on a regular basis under
Continuing Education Programme. The department is also
recognized as the State Resource Institution for
conducting training programme to Engineers under
NPCBEERM.
The department has also been recognized
as a research centre for students to pursue their
doctoral studies in different specializations. The
department has planned to set up Earth Quake
Engineering and Geo-technical Engineering laboratories
as the thrust areas under TEQIP.

Studies on the treatment of sugar mill
wastewater using hybrid anaerobic reactor
2. Study
of pavements functional characteristics as perceived
by road user towards travel and safety
