Specialised areas:Bioinformatics, Molecular biology, Plant tissue culture, Genetic Engg., Enzyme Technology, Fermentation Technology, Bioprocess Principle and Calculations.
The college is one
amongst the few engineering colleges in the state that
have started BE degree course in Biotechnology. The
Department has well-equipped industry standard
laboratories in the areas of life science and chemical
engineering. Bio-Informatics being one of the cutting
edge technology, Bio-Informatics Laboratory has
independent computer center with 128 kbps Internet
connectivity with all the required packages like
GCGWISCONSIN, CAD and MATLAB.
Regular interaction
with faculty members of Shri. Nijalingappa Medical
College and personnel from the industry have helped in
enhancement and up-gradation of the students knowledge
in the area of Biotechnology. Regular visits to
biotech and chemical industries have helped the
students to keep themselves in pace with technological
changes.
