The college is one amongst the few engineering colleges in the state that have started BE degree course in Biotechnology. The Department has well-equipped industry standard laboratories in the areas of life science and chemical engineering. Bio-Informatics being one of the cutting edge technology, Bio-Informatics Laboratory has independent computer center with 128 kbps Internet connectivity with all the required packages like GCGWISCONSIN, CAD and MATLAB.
Department is recognized as R&D center. Regular interaction with faculty members of allied institutes and industry have helped in enhancement and up-gradation of the students knowledge in the area of Biotechnology. Regular visits to biotech and chemical industries are helping the students to keep themselves in pace with technological changes.
