Has involved extensively in the field of Research and Development since 1995 to till date and significant work has been carried out on the DRDO, ARDB, CSIR, DST and AICTE New Delhi and KSCST Govt. of Karnataka funded projects in the areas of grain refinement/modification of Al-Si alloys, Tribological studies of Al-Si alloys, Development of B-rich Al-Ti-B grain refiners for Al-Si alloys, Development of Al-Ti-B-Sr master alloys for the combined effect of grain refinement and modification of Al-Si alloys, synthesis and characterization of In-situ Al-TiB₂ metal matrix composites and Brazing of Ceramic to Metal Joining and etc.

Has indigenously developed a number of master alloys (binary, ternary and quaternary) like Al-Ti, Al-B, Al-Ti-B and Al-Ti-B-Sr by the reaction of molten Al with halide salts of Ti, B and Sr for the grain refinement and modification of Al and its alloys.

These indigenously developed master alloys are used for the manufacturing of Al and its alloy components to improve the mechanical properties. These indigenously developed master alloys can save a lot of foreign exchange as these substitute the imported master alloys. Apart from this, it will have an important R & D impact mainly on the Al producing industries.

Investigated the sliding wear behaviour of Al-0.2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12%Si and commercial alloys like LM-25 and LM-6 alloys which are used for the making of pistons, connecting rod, cylinder blocks, engine casings, mag wheels etc.

In-depth investigations on the wear resistance of the individual effect of grain refiner, modifier and combined effect of grain refiner and modifier on hypoeutectic and eutectic Al-Si alloys. Wear resistance of dispersed second phase Si particles/plates in the hypoeutectic and eutectic Al-Si alloys have been investigated. Coefficient of wear resistance of Al-0.2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12%Si and commercial alloys like LM-25, LM-6 alloys have been found which are being used in aerospace, automotive, defence and marine sectors and also identified the dominant wear mechanism under varying contact pressures and linear speeds.

Developed Al-Ti-Sr, Al-B-Sr and Al-Ti-B-Sr master alloys of different compositions for the combined effect of grain refiner and modifier for Al-Si alloys. Identified the clear understanding of the nature of reactions involved during the production of Al-Ti-Sr, Al-B-Sr and Al-Ti-B-Sr master alloys. Performance of these prepared master alloys on the grain refinement and modification behaviour of Al and its alloys have been evaluated by computer aided cooling curve analysis (CA-CCA). These developed master alloys will have an impact on the Aluminium producing industries.
